16 Days of Activism

We support the 16 Days of Activism campaign which runs from 25th November to 10th December. Throughout this campaign, we join with over 6000 organisations from over 185 countries to raise awareness of and call for an end to gender based violence and abuse in all forms and in all societies.

Gender based violence is one of the most widespread violations of human rights. It can affect anyone at any time and it takes many forms. It can be part of a damaging cultural norm or hidden behind closed doors. But we believe that we must bring this out into the light.

In Britain & Ireland, our members offer invaluable, boots on the ground support.

From providing essential items for refuges, organising workshops on gender-based issues in schools and prisons to supporting the families of survivors to heal and rebuild important family bonds thorugh its 'Away From It All' holidays', our members are constantly looking for ways to put their faith into action.

We work in parnership with local domesic abuse organisations and parishes to raise awareness about the prevalence of all forms of abuse in our communities and give practical examples of how we can all be part of the change. Find out more at mothersunion.org/RISEUP.
